Soccer is a fun way to develop strength, endurance and confidence. Team sports are a fun activity for children and adults alike. Whether you are learning to play soccer for yourself or want to help your child learn, there are basic skills that every player needs. These soccer training skills are the basic techniques that you will need to know in order to play your best.
Dribbling
Dribbling is the most fundamental movement in soccer. Before you can make it onto the field, you need to know how to move ball and make quick turns. Practicing dribbling the ball around cones instead of moving it in a straight line, and you will have a more effective training session.
Passing
Accuracy is the most important aspect of passing and one of the easiest to practice during a training session. Work in groups of three, with two players passing the ball between them and a third trying to defend.
Shielding
Once your team has control of the soccer ball, you need to learn how to protect it from your opponent. During practice, divide the team into pairs. Let one player try to defend the ball from the other player. Keep your body between the ball and your opponent.
Shooting
No matter how well the team can maintain possession of the ball, they can only win the game if they get it in the net. Practicing shooting from a still position is unrealistic. During training, work on beating a defender and getting the ball into the net. This will also involve more players in the drill.
