Running a soccer practice only requires a little bit of equipment and lots of creativity. If you are a first-time soccer coach, make sure that you have this basic equipment on hand at all your practices. Having the right soccer training equipment will ensure that your team has fun and everyone can participate to their fullest.
Extra Balls
Ask each of your players to bring their own soccer ball to practice, but expect that a few will forget or not have one. Keeping extra balls on hand for training sessions will ensure that all of your players can participate in the drills at the same time. A mesh ball bag will secure them for transport.
Cones
Soccer training sessions can take place anywhere, with just a few cones to set up the drills. Cones can be used to practice shooting, dribbling or passing. They can also mark off the area you will be using for practice games, called scrimmages. Smaller "disk" cones are available for coaches to purchase.
Whistle
A whistle will not only let the players know when practice is beginning and ending, but it can also be a good way to get their attention. If you are coaching youth soccer, let your team know that the whistle means it is time to listen. They need to understand that during games, the referee's whistle means that it is time to stop.
