Overview
When a person is learning to play a sport, agility is important. Having agility involves being able to move quickly, fluidly and nimbly. Strength and stamina certainly have their place, but agility is also vital--yet a lot of people leave out agility training in their workout routine. Significance
Not everyone realizes just how important agility is or how much of a role it plays in many different types of sports. Function

There are several options for agility training tools, depending on what sport a person is training for and what his or her natural talents already are. Poles, rings, hurdles and balls are commonly used as tools for agility training, since much of the training focuses on running quickly, jumping, balance and maneuvering one's body fast and nimbly in close quarters. For sports like soccer, the soccer ball itself can be used as an agility training tool, and it will help the players improve both their agility and their overall game.
Benefits
Agility training tools are not difficult to use, and they are not considered to be overly dangerous when used properly. Because they are used by so many different age groups and by people who play a lot of different types of sports, they have to be very safe techniques. Becoming more agile is the No. 1 benefit of using these training tools, but there are others. People who regularly use agility training tools also have more stamina and strength because they are getting more exercise. In addition, they build self-confidence and teamwork. These things cannot be purchased, and they are very important to any team or individual playing in a competitive sport.

Like any training or exercise program, the use of agility training tools is something to be careful with. While they are generally very safe, there is always some risk of injury. Seeing a doctor before you begin work with agility training tools is a good idea, especially if you are not already in good physical shape. You should also be careful not to push yourself too hard or try to do too much all at once. Like strength training or cardiovascular work for stamina, agility training takes time and effort, but improvement will come.
