Whether your party is a birthday party or the victory celebration after your soccer team won first in the state, the decorations for a soccer party will make it memorable. By considering how to make each feature of the party serve as one of the decorations, you will save time and money as you plan and facilitate the party.
People
Decorate your soccer party with pictures of great soccer players. You can find these pictures in poster and soccer trading card form. If your party celebrates a particular team's victory, make trading cards using a team photograph, individual photographs and the season's statistics on your computer. Pictures of people can be laminated to use as placemats. They can be taped to the wall. They can even be used to play a guessing game. Tape a picture on each guest's back. Then challenge the guests to figure out who it is by asking yes or no questions. The game reinforces the decorations.
Balls
Buy a case of miniature soccer balls and place them in clear bowls or vases on the table. Get finger soccer games as party favors, which the guests can play while they wait to be served food. They can also take the games home. Place real balls and pictures of soccer balls all around the room in plain sight, and have a contest where the guests must compete to locate and count the balls. Give a new soccer ball to the person who guesses the best answer.
Uniforms
Make the soccer uniform part of the decorations. Hang up shirts in a festive arrangement on the wall. If your party celebrates a team victory, provide a fabric marker for each team member to autograph a shirt for each of the players. Hang up two soccer uniforms, including the shin guards. Make a relay race where teams compete to see who can put on the uniform and dribble a soccer ball into the goal, kick it back, and take off the uniform first. The goal posts and the uniforms can be arranged in the room where the soccer party will be held so that they contribute to the decorations and also provide the props needed for the game.
