Overview

how custom soccer backpack : Overview
A soccer backpack is something many soccer players wish they had. Whether it is a bag for their soccer items, or just a bag with a soccer theme, it can be hard to find in common stores. As an alternative, it is possible to make your own custom soccer backpack. All you need is a few soccer-themed items and a large backpack. This project can be completed in one day but will take longer if you have to shop for the items. This project also makes a great gift for soccer lovers.

Step 1

Calculate how large of a backpack you will need. Is the backpack to hold soccer items, or is it just a backpack for school that will have a soccer theme? Consider the uses for the backpack and how it will be handled. Once you have an idea of what the backpack will be used for then you will know what kind to pick out at the store.

Step 2

Purchase a backpack that will suit your needs. Make sure it is sturdy and will last for a long time. Backpacks that have a lot of different pockets are very useful for holding school items. Backpacks for soccer equipment might be better if the backpack had fewer pockets.

Step 3

Plan the design for your soccer backpack. Do you want it to have the person's name or the words "soccer" written on it? Do you want pictures of soccer related items on it? Draw out a rough outline of how you want the final backpack to look on a piece of paper.

Step 4

Iron on any images using the iron and towel. Follow the directions that came with the iron-ons. Make sure to only iron materials that will not melt under the heat of the iron. Sew any soccer patches that the backpack owner has earned or received with the needle and thread.

Step 5

Draw some letters out on the piece of felt. You can draw the owner's name or anything you want. Cut them out and pin them onto the backpack with the straight pins. Sew around the edges of the letters to attach them to the backpack. You will likely need a thimble to push the needle through the backpack. Once the letters are sewn on tie a knot in the thread to hold them in place. If the owner of the backpack is rough on things, sew the letters and patches on really well.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : Look at other people's soccer backpacks for ideas on how to make yours. Use team colors to decorate your backpack. If you have any soccer themed pins, stick them on the backpack as well.
  • WARNING : Do not iron any material that is synthetic. It will melt and ruin the backpack.
