Soccer FactsOverview
If you own or manage a soccer league, you should consider a heath insurance policy that will cover your players in the case of injury. Taking out this type of policy is not only a perk for your players, but also will protect you against any liability in the case of an accident during game play.
Types
There are two main types of health insurance coverage available for soccer leagues: sports accident and sports liability. Sports accident plans for soccer leagues will set a coverage amount that will include any health care required for that player, if injured during a game or practice. Sports liability coverage for soccer leagues will protect the league against lawsuits or personal injury claims made by players that were hurt during game play.
Time Frame
You will have several options as far as how long you want your soccer league to attain health insurance coverage for your players. You can take out a policy that will last throughout the season, or a special events policy that will last for a shorter period of time, sometimes only providing coverage for a major championship or playoff game.
Benefits
You won't want to be responsible for paying thousands of dollars in medical bills in the case you are found liable for the injury of one of your players. Typical limits of companies range between $25,000 and $100,000 per injured player. If you are worried that this is not enough coverage for your soccer league, you can opt into an umbrella coverage that extends this amount.
Considerations
You will want to contact several sports health insurance companies in order to receive quotes on their different policies for soccer leagues. Francis Dean Associates and Pullen Insurance Services are two well-known providers of both accident and liability policies for soccer leagues.
Warning
When you take out a health insurance plan for your soccer league, you must read all inclusions and exclusions. For example, for most league policies, the company will only provide medical coverage after the person's primary health insurance has been exhausted or if the player does not have a health insurance policy.
