Soccer has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. With league play starting at an early age, training has become even more important to avoid injury. Speed and agility are vital to any soccer player. With sudden stops and starts, direction changes and backward movements, providing the correct exercises for their players is a coach's main concern.
Drill 1
Players should pass the ball back and forth while running toward the goal.Have the players work in pairs. Line them up in 2 rows, side by side. The server should send the ball about 5 feet in front of him. Have the players accelerate towards the ball, then pass it back and forth until they reach the end of the field.
Drill 2
Same as above, however the first player that reaches the ball proceeds offensively, while the second player plays defense. The goal is for the offense to reach the goal while defense stops her. Make sure the players understand that this is a "one-on-one" game and they should play all out.
