JB's thoughts on all things soccer...
The Irish Ninja

Robbie Keane led the charge against Middlesbrough and not only scored the first goal, but was responsible for the two passes that gave Aaron Lennon his much deserved brace.  The Hotspurs came out confident and thumped Middlesbrough thoroughly.

The match displayed the quality shown at the Carling Cup, with the added power of Keane and Wilson Palacios. Lennon and Modric showed superb quality and dominated the game at every turn. Hell, even Roman Pavlyuchenko got a goal! The Hotspurs are back!

It was amazing to see a player, who in my opinion has been mistreated for half of the season, play an amazing game and leave the field with total confidence.  He almost ended the game with two goals and two assists, which is what he deserved. The Hotspurs look a much better side since Keane returned.

Looking at the league table, they may possibly end up in tenth place after this Saturday’s game against Sunderland. The most amazing revelation for the team and Hotspurs fans is this:

Is seventh place possible? Is European football a possibility?

If the Hotspurs keep playing at this level, then it is possible. They held Manchester United for 120 minutes without a goal and lacked their best strikers. Keane is once again confident and Defoe will be back on the pitch soon enough. The result of having both Keane and Defoe back will be the increased pressure on Bent and Pavlyuchenko. They will understand that they have to earn their spot and it isn’t a luxury. Bentley learned this the hard way, as he has now become the highest paid substitute in the league.

What do you think? Can the Hotspurs take seventh?
